Truffle dogs
Indispensable companions
For us, dogs have always been companions both in the woods and in life. Truffle hunting is an ancient art born of the balance between man, animal, and nature.

The bond
that begins before
the truffle

Our relationship with dogs lies at the very heart of our history; our love for these extraordinary animals began even before our truffle-hunting adventure.
It is from that authentic bond that our way of experiencing the forest takes its inspiration: slow, mindful, and respectful of nature’s rhythms.
Respect, well-being,
and collaboration

The well-being of our dogs is a daily priority: they live and work in an environment that respects their physical and emotional balance. A happy dog works with joy, and this is reflected in every truffle we harvest. They deserve the greatest credit for our work.
Giuliano has trained over 120 truffle dogs with patience and care, using methods that enhance their natural abilities and ensure their well-being, even after their working careers have ended.
A part of our history

A nose for success
The breed most commonly used for truffle hunting is the Lagotto Romagnolo, prized for its keen sense of smell, docility, and natural aptitude. Its highly developed sense of smell allows it to locate truffles even at great depths.
However, setters, pointers, and mixed-breed dogs can also yield excellent results if properly trained. In the woods, though, the dog-and-truffle hunter partnership is what always makes the difference.
